When couples ask us what has the biggest impact on their wedding photos, they're often surprised by the answer.
It's not the venue.
It's not the flowers.
It's not even the weather.
It's the light.
They way the light changes throughout the day completely transforms how your wedding gallery will look and feel. If you've ever admired those soft, warm, glowy wedding photos then chances are they were taken during golden hour. The hour leading up to sunset.
So... when should your ceremony be? As a general rule we recommend planning your ceremony to end about 60-90 minutes before sunset.
That gives you enough time for:
- Family photos
- Wedding party portraits
- A few quiet moments together
- Couple portraits during the most beautiful light of the day
Instead of standing in harsh afternoon sun, you'll be surrounded by soft, flattering light that photographs beautifully and creates the timeless look so many couples love.
What if we're doing a first look?
A first look gives you even more flexibility.
Many of your portraits can happen before the ceremony, which means you'll spend less time away from your guests afterward. Then, just before sunset, you can sneak away for 10-15 minutes to capture those dreamy golden-hour portraits without missing your reception.
Some of our favorite images happen during those quiet moments when the excitement of the day finally slows down.
A quick note about Florida weddings
One thing we always remind our couples is that Florida sunsets change throughout the year. A ceremony time that's perfect in January might leave you chasing daylight in July or vice versa.
That's why we help every couple build a photography timeline based on:
- Your wedding date
- Sunset time
- Your venue
- Travel between locations
- The pace you want your day to have
Our goal isn't just beautiful photos. It's creating a timeline that lets you enjoy your wedding without feeling rushed.
Your wedding day only happens once. The right timeline gives you the freedom to be present, soak in every moment and trust that the light will do the rest. Beautiful photographs aren't created by chance. They're created with intention.
PRESS NOTE:
Before choosing your ceremony time, look up your wedding date's sunset time and work backward. Even shifting your ceremony by 30 minutes can make it noticeable difference in your final gallery. We help every couple create a timeline that makes the most of beautiful light while keeping the day relaxed and enjoyable.
